Aside from the exciting and crazy FedExCup Playoff scenarios unfolding like the March Madness of golf, Greensboro, NC., had such a laid back and chill vibe for the Wyndham Championship — I loved it! It had a much-needed slow pace to balance out the chaos of the final regular-season event.
This easy, southern atmosphere was exactly what we all needed heading into the playoffs and final stretch of the 2016-2017 PGA TOUR season. If you’d like a breakdown of how the FedExCup Playoff system works, check out the Facebook Live I did with our playoff guru Tom Alter:
But if you are here to check out our trip off-the-course at the Wyndham Championship, you’ve come to the right place!
There is nothing like southern hospitality and our very own Helen Ross of PGATOUR.com had the PGA TOUR digital team over to her lovely home in Greensboro for a nice evening together and a home-cooked meal to kick off our week there. (I need to get her shrimp salad recipe — it was to die for!)
When you are on the road together for work, it’s so important to build that camaraderie and do fun things together — so everyone doesn’t have to just go back to their hotel room every night alone. Being on the road can feel lonely at times, but the PGA TOUR has some amazing folks to kick back with after long days at the course.
Keeping in that team spirit — I LOVE to visit ballparks or stadiums when I am on the road and check out another sporting event in the city that I’m visiting that week. Lucky for us Greensboro has a Single-A, minor league baseball team (Miami Marlins affiliate) — the Greensboro Grasshoppers — and it was so much fun to go together and chow down on some nachos and sip some cheap beer.
Other than getting on the jumbo tron for doing the Macarena, the highlight of the night was definitely seeing their “bat dog” Lou-Lou Gehrig fetch the players’ bats and bring water to the umps. She was adorable!

For the rest of our nights in Greensboro, we just tried to find great restaurants — like a downtown Greensboro staple, Natty Greene’s — recharge and relax. The PGA TOUR’s Mattie-Lou Chandler was a guest on my new weekly #WineWednesday Facebook Live show and we chatted about life on the road, how to stay healthy while traveling and more!
If you’d like to check out more of my fun videos from Wyndham Championship, I highly recommend watching our “Heads Up” series playing the fun parlor game with our players at the tournament. This one with Stuart Appleby is pretty funny. (Watch for the part where he calls himself a “Legend” 😂)
BONUS! I always get so many questions about where I get my clothes when I’m at a tournament, and this week at the Wyndham Championship was no exception — the women were loving the new Radiance collection I was sporting from Tail Activewear. So head on over to TailActivewear.com and use promo code TERYN08 to receive 20% off and load up on cute outfits like I do! It makes packing SO EASY for all of my trips — I don’t even have to think about putting outfits together, they’ve already done it for you!
Plus, I’ll see you again Wednesday night (8/23/17) for an all new #WineWednesday chat! Join me on my Facebook page for a Facebook Live chat at 8pm ET — we can talk the FedExCup Playoffs kicking off this week and so much more! See you there!
