Choosing gifts for your bridesmaids is a fun process. You get a chance to say thank you to the women that have been by your side in life and on your wedding day. I thought I had a clever surprise for them, but boy did they surprise me!
At the rehearsal dinner, I gifted my girls matching Kendra Scott earrings to complement their bridesmaid dresses, as well as, lip gloss and matching Essie nail polish in my favorite gray hue. (Gray polish goes with everything! I love it!)
But their big surprise was their customized St. Louis Cardinals jerseys, that when standing together the numbers displayed our wedding date. They loved the gray jerseys with their names on the back and I loved my white jersey with my new name “Gregson” on it as well. It was such a great compliment to the fact that we were getting married right next to Busch Stadium at the Hilton St. Louis at the Ballpark, all my girls are die-hard Cardinals fans and they came down to Florida for Spring Training for my Bachelorette Party.
Boy did I think I was clever, putting a twist on the traditional button-up shirts or pajamas to get ready in on the big day — without messing up our hair, of course. 💁🏼♀️ But they had the biggest surprise of all up their sleeves!
Most of my bridesmaids and I have been friends since pre-school, or are family, so we all know each other very well. The girls, especially my cousin and maid-of-honor, know how much my grandfather meant to me and my work with the Alzheimer’s Association since we lost him to the disease a few years ago.
So one of the most touching moments was the card the girls gave me while we were getting ready in the Hilton’s bridal suite, revealing that they had made a sizable donation to the Alzheimer’s Association in my grandfather’s name. I hardly ever cry, but the floodgates opened for me in that moment!
I’ll never forget it and I encourage others to give meaningful donations as wedding gifts for their loved ones in the future. June is Alzheimer’s and Brain Awareness Month, so please join the cause and help us #EndAlz so other girls like me don’t have to experience their wedding day without their cherished grandparents.
This month I’m pivoting from #TtimeTuesday to #WeddingWednesday. I’ll continue to post on #WeddingWednesday and reveal more elements from our big day throughout the coming weeks!
